In the meantime, ornamental leeks are also available in pink and white. The latest varieties have recently delighted viewers with differently shaped flower balls and in the other flower colors of blue, yellow and pink.

Planting garlic - 5 important tips

Tip 1:
Almost all varieties of ornamental leek love the blazing sun. Already in autumn (October to November) you should plant the bulbs in a sunny place, in a very nutrient-rich soil (add humus) and that quite deep - approx. 25 centimeters.

When planting the bulbs, you must make sure that they are not infected by mold.

Tip 2:
Put about 5 centimeters of sand in the planting holes before you plant the bulbs, then the plants will get through the severe winter months much easier.

Tip 3:
Ornamental onion can of course also be placed on the balcony or terrace as a container plant. But make sure you have a sunny spot again.

Tip 4:
You must fertilize the ornamental onion as regularly as possible in spring and until flowering. Only in this way can it develop its full splendor over several years.

In addition to full fertilizers (mineral fertilizers), the application of fresh humus or animal manure around the plants is also suitable.

Tip 5:
Every year in autumn, you should cut the faded ornamental leeks just above the ground so that they can sprout again in the coming year. Then you should also incorporate fresh humus into the soil around the plant.
